Massport Community Advisory Committee Reappoints John Nucci to Massport Board of Directors
BOSTON –The Massachusetts Port Authority Community Advisory Committee (MCAC) has recently reappointed lifelong East Boston resident John Nucci as the committee’s representative member of the Massport Board of Directors. Nucci is the Senior Vice President for External Affairs at Suffolk University and has more than 40 years of experience in Boston government and community relations. He was first appointed to the Board by the MCAC in 2016. The MCAC was created by legislation and is comprised of representatives from 35 diverse communities that surround Massport facilities, as far north as Salem and as far west as Worcester.
“John Nucci’s reappointment to the Massport Board of Directors by the MCAC reflects his leadership and commitment to public service,” said Governor Charlie Baker. “As a lifelong East Boston resident, John has been a strong advocate for surrounding communities and will continue to be an asset to the Massport Board.”
Throughout his career, Nucci has demonstrated an ability to bring community partners together with government so that both benefit. During his time on the Board, Nucci has advocated for the surrounding communities on issues of noise, strategic growth, construction, traffic congestion, as well as sustainability, among others.

I am pleased to see the recent progress that Massport has made such as the raising of the minimum wage, the pledge to improve air quality around the airport, and the commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in real estate development, but there is more to be done as we move forward.”
The Massachusetts Port Authority Board is a seven-member group that oversees Massport, a financially independent authority which owns and operates Boston Logan International Airport, the public container and cruise terminals in the Port of Boston, Hanscom Field, Worcester Regional Airport as well as real estate holdings and public parks in South Boston and East Boston. Board members are not paid for their service.

Nucci served as an At-Large Boston City Councilor from 1992-1995. Nucci was elected Suffolk County Clerk in 1994 and served in that office for a decade. From 1992-2007, he taught at Suffolk University as an Adjunct Professor of Public Management. Nucci was also a Boston School Committee member from 1984-1990 and served as President from 1985-1989. He is a board member of a number of professional affiliations including the Boston Business Improvement District and the Boston Municipal Research Bureau, among others. Nucci received a B.A. from Boston College and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Suffolk University.
