The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) is pleased to announce that Sharon Williams has been named Director of Aviation Facilities and Passenger Services at Boston Logan International Airport, following 11 years of distinguished leadership at L.G. Hanscom Field, New England’s busiest general aviation airport. As Boston Logan prepares for future growth, this new role reflects Massport’s commitment to enhancing the passenger experience and operational excellence. In her new position, Sharon will oversee Airport Facilities, Customer Service, and Terminal Management, while also maintaining strategic oversight of Hanscom Field. Christopher Willenborg, airport manager of Westfield-Barnes Regional Airport, has been appointed as the new Director of Hanscom Field.

“We are incredibly grateful to Sharon Williams for her dedicated leadership at Hanscom Field for over a decade, where she ensured the safe and efficient operation of New England’s busiest general aviation airport. Her commitment to operational excellence, safety, and service has been an invaluable asset to Massport,” said Massport CEO Rich Davey. “As she transitions into her new role, we are confident that Sharon will bring the same dedication, insight, and leadership that defined her time at Hanscom. We look forward to the positive impact she will undoubtedly have on the passenger experience and overall operations at Boston Logan.”

As Director of Hanscom Field, Sharon oversaw the safe and efficient operation of the entire facility. Her responsibilities spanned airfield management, disaster preparedness and training, airport security, and enforcement of operating regulations. She also provided overall leadership for both the administrative and maintenance teams, developing programs and procedures to ensure effective facility upkeep. In addition, Sharon played a vital role in fostering relationships with the community, airport tenants, and local officials through strategic liaison and communication efforts. She maintained strong lines of coordination with the FAA, the U.S. Air Force, community organizations, and airport stakeholders to support the airport’s mission and long-term success.

Sharon has been a dedicated member of the Massport team for 30 years, beginning her career as an Operations Manager at Hanscom Field. She went on to hold several key roles at Boston Logan, including Manager of Terminal B, Manager of Airside/Landside and Fleet Maintenance, Manager of Airport Facilities, and Deputy Director of Aviation Services. In 2011, she returned to Hanscom as Manager of Airport Administration and was named Airport Director in February 2013.

Christopher Willenborg has over 25 years of leadership experience in the airport industry as an airport manager, state aeronautics director, and airport consultant. He previously served as the Airport Manager of Westfield-Barnes Regional Airport located in Westfield, Massachusetts. He was responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing the development and execution of annual budgets, and leading strategic initiatives at Westfield-Barnes Regional Airport. Over the past four years, this included directing more than $60 million in airside and landside capital improvement projects.
