Leadership on the ground, as well as in the air.
Boston Logan is the nation’s top airport for high-occupancy vehicle use. That means cleaner air and less traffic for everyone. We promote more high-occupancy vehicle use, less reliance on single-occupant vehicles and efficient access and parking options in and around Logan Airport.
Getting to the airport. And getting around.
High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Goals
Logan Express Bus Service
For over 30 years we’ve honed our convenient coach bus service to Boston Logan from park-and-ride lots in Braintree, Framingham, Woburn and Peabody. Each location features a full-service terminal and secure parking.
Back Bay Logan Express
Back Bay Logan Express shuttles run between Back Bay and Terminals A, B, C and E from two convenient locations: Hynes Convention Center and the Copley MBTA station.
Public Transportation
The MBTA connects downtown Boston directly to Boston Logan. The Blue Line stops at Airport Station, and the Silver Line at each terminal. Travel by MBTA significantly reduces automobile travel to the airport.
Silver Line (SL1)
The Silver Line is the only MBTA rapid transit service that provides a direct, one-seat connection from South Station to each airport terminal. The Logan-to-Boston leg of the Silver Line is free for quick boarding times.
Rental Car Center
Centralizing all our rental options into one car rental center saves energy and is more convenient for all. Free earth-friendly shuttle buses connect customers from the terminals to the MBTA Blue Line station, the Rental Car Center, the water shuttle, the Economy Parking Garage and the Back Bay Logan Express.
Hybrid/Alternative-Fuel Vehicle Preferred Parking and Charging Stations
Massport offers preferred parking for customers driving hybrids and AFVs. Massport garages offer hybrid and alternative-fuel-only parking spaces and complimentary electric vehicle charging stations.
Hybrid Cabs Incentive
CleanAir Cabs, a collaboration between Massport and the City of Boston, provides head-of-line privileges to encourage the use of low-emission, alternative-fueled, mainly hybrid, vehicles for taxi service.
Employee Ground Transportation Initiatives
Airport employees often have non-traditional (and often unpredictable) working hours that are difficult to match to typical transit service. We strive to reduce the number of employees commuting by private automobile, to enhance commuter options and to reduce traffic and parking demands at our airports.
