Winthrop hosts Boston Logan International Airport.

Winthrop was first settled in 1635 as Pullen Poynt and later incorporated in 1852.  The town is named after the Deane Winthrop, son of John Winthrop the first Governor of Massachusetts, who lived in the town until his death in 1703. Deane Winthrop’s home still stands and is kept open to the public by the Winthrop Improvement and Historical Association.  It is one of the oldest constantly lived-in houses in the US and site of the annual Winthrop Strawberry Festival.
