Open Checkbook

In June 2010, the Massachusetts Legislature passed and Governor Deval Patrick signed into law Section 14C of Chapter 7 of the Massachusetts General Laws to increase government transparency. The law requires the Secretary of Administration and Finance to display state spending information in a searchable online database. Open Checkbook was first made available to the public in 2011 and has subsequently been enhanced to incorporate spending data from the Commonwealth’s quasi-public Authorities, including the Massachusetts Port Authority.

In compliance with this requirement, all payments made by the Massachusetts Port Authority from July 2011 to October 2014 will be made public on the Open Checkbook website on December 22nd. After December 22nd, new data will be posted monthly. No confidential or contractually protected information, such as Taxpayer Identification Numbers or street addresses, will be shown on the website.

Please feel free to contact Massport if you have any questions or concerns.
