 Composition of the Retirement System The Massachusetts Port Authority Employees' Retirement System is one of 106 state and municipal systems in Massachusetts. The System is administered by a five member board consisting of one ex officio member, two elected members, one member appointed by the Massachusetts Port Authority, and one member appointed by the four board members. The Board, while operating independently, is bound by Chapter 32, Massachusetts General Laws, which establishes benefits, contribution requirements and an accounting and funds structure for all systems. The Retirement System Staff is made up of four full-time employees. The Board and Staff are responsible for over 1,500 Active, Inactive, Retired members and Beneficiaries.
