CEO Biography

THOMAS J. KINTON, JR.

CEO AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR MASSACHUSETTS PORT AUTHORITY

Tom Kinton was named CEO and Executive Director of the Massachusetts Port Authority in 2006, after a career spanning more than three decades at Massport – much of it spent as Director of Aviation overseeing the operations of Boston Logan International Airport, Bedford’s Hanscom Field and Worcester Regional Airport. Among his many achievements, Kinton was named Airport Director of the Year by Airport Revenue News in 2005.

As CEO and Executive Director, Kinton continues to oversee Massport's aviation assets, as well as the public cruise, cargo and container terminals of the Port of Boston, the Tobin Memorial Bridge, and development of Massport-owned property.

Kinton's priorities as CEO are the safety and security of Massport’s transportation facilities, improving customer service, and expanding air and maritime services that allow New England to connect with markets in the US and around the world.

Kinton is recognized nationally for Logan's Family Assistance Program for Aviation Disasters that played a key role on 9/11. He was also instrumental in Logan's Behavior Pattern Recognition Program that helped earn Logan the 2004 Airport Security Report's award for "Exceptional Performance in Airport Security."

Kinton is credited with launching a number of nationally recognized airport initiatives such as the Family Assistance Program for Aviation Disasters, Aircraft Emergency Frequency Program, and Behavior Pattern Recognition Program.

In 2008, Kinton was appointed to the Board of Directors of Airports Council International – North America, and in 2009 was elected Secretary/Treasurer of ACI, the organization that represents local, regional and state governing bodies that own and operate commercial airports in the United States and Canada.
